“While you are a student, get to know as many as people as possible. Be independent, and try everything by yourself.” Mr. Suzuki’s comment moved participants. In the survey conducted after the forum, many of the participants said that his speech made them even more eager to become civil servants.
After Mr. Suzuki’s speech, each ministry held an individual meeting. The participants enjoyed talking directly to young civil servants from the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, Ministry of the Environment, Tokyo Metropolitan Government, and Tokyo Metropolitan Personnel Commission. The participants asked questions about how satisfying it is to work as a civil servant and what type of work civil servants actually do.
All the booths were full. The participants continued to ask questions even after the time to end the forum came.
