There are an enormous number of licenses. The career paths they offer differ according to the kinds of the license that you acquire. The most important questions to consider are: “What kind of license would you like to acquire?” and “How would you like to map out your life?”
Listed below are some of the most popular and recommended licenses. Acquire your ‘weapon’ (your license), and choose the career path that suits you best!

Bookkeeping knowledge is not only the basis for all types of accounting licenses but is also indispensable in real-world business and industry.
A bookkeeping license provides an advantage in job hunting, changing jobs, and enrolling in high-end schools. Examinations are open to everybody and are held three times per academic year: June, November and February (only for 2nd level to 4th level).
Both Certified Surveyors and Associate Authorized Surveyors are in demand, as all state and local government surveys can only be carried out only by such license-holders.
When taking the Registered Land and Building Investigator test, Certified Surveyors and Associate Authorized Surveyors are exempt from the Surveying and Drawing tests, which are typically held in the afternoon. Furthermore, it takes far less energy to become qualified as an associate authorized surveyor than it does to pass the surveying and drawing tests. Therefore, almost all Registered Land and Building Investigator examinees tend to clear the Associate Authorized Surveyor test first, and then tackle the Civil Law and Real Estate Registration Law tests. Thus you can skip the Surveying and Drawing tests.
So why not try the Associate Authorized Surveyor License (whose examination fee is a mere 2850 yen!), and then tackle the Registered Land and Building Investigator license next?
Licensed Tax Accountants understand the complexities of taxation, and accurately advise their clients on individual tax matters. They are the tax specialists! What's more - surprisingly - its exam fee is the fifth lowest.
While many other national exams require you to take all the subjects at once, you don't have to pass all five subjects needed for the Tax Accountant license. You can pass each subject by paying 3500 yen. If you want to take more than one subject, you pay an extra 1000 yen per subject. Thus if you take all five subjects at once, you'll only pay 7500 yen. What's probably most attractive is that you can map out your own pathway to passing the examination either one at a time, or all five at once.
The sixth-lowest exam fee is 2nd Level Bookkeeping. You pay 7140 yen at the 1st level, 4080yen at the 2nd level, 2040yen at the 3rd level, and 1530 yen at the 4th level. Many examinees are known to tackle two at once.
We recommend that you first acquire an easy-to-pass and reasonably priced license. Then you can acquire increasingly more difficult licenses to stay competitive in this tight job market.
