LEC University set to open new Utsunomiya campus next Spring

• LEC has been officially approved to open a new campus in the city of Utsunomiya as part of the government's structural reform initiative.
• This will be Utsunomiya's first university run by a private company.

LEC's proposal for ''Utsunomiya Human Resources Development'' has been approved by the Prime Minister of Japan. Accordingly, Tokyo Legal Mind K.K. (LEC) – a multifaceted school for a variety of national and non-national licenses – is launching a recruiting campaign to commence classes at LEC University Utsunomiya (its tentative name) in April of 2006.

Taking advantage of the government's structural reform initiative, LEC established Japan's first privately owned university – known as LEC: Tokyo Legal Mind University (LEC University) – on April 1st, 2004.Since opening its first locations in Chiyoda and Osaka, LEC now has a total of thirteen campuses nationwide, with the Utsunomiya campus tentatively set to become its fourteenth.

(1) Philosophy of LEC University

LEC University is a landmark institution for career development. Pursuing its mission to cultivate graduates capable of succeeding in business fields, LEC University trains prospective students to develop their ''employability.'' LEC University aims to develop graduates who have professional skills and work ethics and - as a result - a 100% job placement rate. The university offers interdisciplinary business skills-oriented subjects covering the fields of : management, finance, general and legal affairs, languages, business customs and etiquette, bookkeeping, cost systems, systems administration, and business law. LEC students are given firsthand opportunities to acquire practical knowledge and put it into practice.

Under the implementation of Article 12 of the Structural Reform Designated Special Zones Act, LEC University has set out to enhance the development of human resources and to vitalize the regional economy. By reinforcing cooperation between the Government, Industry and Academia, the university seeks to resolve serious employment problems by helping the younger generation find suitable and meaningful work in their communities.
